Do I Still Need Joint Supplements if My Dog Is on Cold Pressed Food?
One of the questions we were recently asked was:
“If I feed my dog the Cold Pressed Calm Down food, do I still need to give them joint supplements?”
As always, we can only speak from experience — and at Maisey Daisey Ltd, we only stock what we trust with our own dogs. Between our four rescues and my mum’s two, everything is thoroughly tried, tested, and dog-approved.
Let us share what we’ve found.
🐾 Maisey’s Journey – From Broken Bones to Bouncing Back
Maisey is not just our forever foster girl — she’s also the CEO of Maisey Daisey Ltd.
She arrived in April 2023 through Sadie’s Dog Rescue, after being found injured by the side of the road. Among her many injuries, she had a broken radius and ulna, and the radius had already been plated in Romania. Despite this, she was 9/10 lame and needed urgent orthopaedic care here in the UK, along with hydrotherapy and physio.
Maisey is a giant breed Bucovina Shepherd, and we had no idea how big she was until she arrived — she didn’t even fit in the extra-large bed I’d bought (122cm x 80cm). We ended up having a bespoke orthopaedic memory foam bed made to properly support her joints and sheer size.
Maisey later had the plate removed, and at that point we discovered she was also suffering from E. coli bone infection.
Fast forward to now — over a year later — and she’s off all prescription pain relief, no longer on YuMove or green-lipped mussel powder, and thriving.
💚 What changed?
The only daily addition to her routine has been her food:
👉 A Salubrious Cold Pressed recipe that contains green-lipped mussel and joint-supporting herbs.
Maisey is now full of energy, pain-free, and loving life, supported with weekly physio from Liz Stoddard at Moorland Veterinary Physio — a constant since her arrival.

🐶 Our Other Dogs Are Thriving Too
🐾 Reggie — Merle Staffy/Cane Corso cross
Reggie came to us with severe skin allergies and used to suffer frequent flare-ups. He’s also on a Salubrious Cold Pressed recipe, and hasn’t had a flare-up since September 2023. His skin is healthy and he’s far more comfortable.

🐾 Winnie — Mioritic Shepherd cross
Winnie struggled with severe anxiety and used to whine and stress constantly. She also had recurring "gulpies" (gastroesophageal distress) which required monthly Actimel to manage.
Since switching to the Calm Down Cold Pressed food, Winnie is far more relaxed, and her gulpies have reduced to just 2 episodes per year.

🐾 Bella — Mum’s rescue girl
Bella suffers with anxiety during fireworks and storms. She now has the Calm Down Cold Pressed food and sleeps in her cocoon bed with curtains — her safe space. Her reactions to loud noises have dramatically improved.

🦴 So, Is Cold Pressed Food Enough for Joints?
We always recommend speaking to your vet for individual advice, but here’s what we’ve found:
For Maisey, the joint care included in her Cold Pressed food has been enough. She’s been off all extra supplements since August 2023 — and she’s been doing brilliantly.
The food is packed with natural ingredients that support:
-
Joint health (thanks to green-lipped mussel & herbs)
-
Skin & coat health
-
Digestive balance — all cold-pressed to retain as much nutritional benefit as possible.
If your dog already struggles with joint issues, it's worth trying a natural daily food like this alongside physio or hydrotherapy where needed. And as always — monitor progress closely.
